Blum Tool Company is a new, small company started by me (Gary Blum) and my wife, Ruth.  I previously ran my own business called Blum’s Furniture Shop for the past 20 years.  We made a wide variety of custom furniture, and we also specialized in custom kitchens and cabinetry.

My passion has always been tools, especially antique planes.  I have been a member of Mid-West Tool Collectors (M-WTCA) for 32 years (I joined when I was 7 years old). If you have an interest in antique tools or other early trades, be sure to check out this organization at www.MWTCA.org.

Blum Tool Co. was started because of my experiences using and collecting antique tools and my work experiences using tools and thinking of ways to improve them.  I was especially influenced by working on the job site with other tradesmen and seeing them use tools (block planes especially) that were extremely dull.  Often they would see my plane and ask me to sharpen theirs.  All of our products have been developed with this concern for practicality and ease of use in mind.

We are located 45 miles east of Omaha, NE, right off Interstate 80, in Walnut, IA…also known as “Iowa’s Antique City”.  This is rolling hills farm country, and Walnut is a postcard Iowa small town.  We invite you to visit us if you are going by on I-80.  All of our tools (and many antique tools) are available to try out in our showroom attached to our Shop.
