Our block plane design uses
the same blade/frog system as our bench planes. However, the mouth
adjusting screws aren't used on the block plane.
The sole and middle are Jatoba and the outsides
are East Indian Rosewood. The bevel down blade is bedded at 50°.
The chipbreaker is built into the frog. The plane works end grain
well and, very importantly, won't produce massive tearout on long
grain like a low angle plane sharpened at 25° will. It is
the only block plane available with a chipbreaker, and it is the
only one available with either a carbide or A-2 steel cutter.
It is also the only one available with a cambered frog.
